In the last few decades, there has arisen a need to limit carbon emissions, due to concerns about climate change. These factors have contributed to a renewed interest in increasing the use of nuclear energy for generating electricity as a sustainable source of clean power generation.
A lot of progress has been made in area of non-power applications of nuclear energy, which has found application in a variety of fields. Notable among them are industry, hydrology, agriculture and food, medicine, art, science, space exploration and cosmology. Today, a host of diverse applications of nuclear energy have become common in several aspects of life. It is expected that in the years to come, such uses will be even more widespread.
